How to Use Templates Effectively on Heidi Health Free Plan While Managing Paid Credits Limits
Overview
On the Heidi Health Free Plan, users have access to 10 Paid Credits per month, which can be used for advanced features like custom templates, Ask Heidi prompts, and other Paid tools. While these Paid Credits allow for increased functionality, users can optimise their experience by utilising free resources like pre-installed templates and transcribing features. This guide explains how to leverage templates without exceeding Paid Credits limits.
Default vs Custom Templates
Using Default Templates
Default templates, such as SOAP notes or generic basic templates, are included with every account and do not consume paid credits when used appropriately. To create notes without using paid credits:
Start a session using the 'Transcribe' function.
End the session by clicking 'Stop Transcribing.'
Choose one of the pre-made default templates (e.g., SOAP Note or basic generic template) to format your note. These templates are free to use and avoid paid credit consumption if no custom features are applied.
Using Custom Templates
You can create and apply custom templates even on the free plan, but applying a custom template will count as one of your 10 monthly paid credits. Note that even slight modifications to default templates turn them into custom templates, which will then consume paid credits.
Detailed Free Templates for Note-Taking
Heidi Health also offers free optimised templates for specific scenarios. For instance, the SOAP Note template is ideal for capturing detailed visits, while templates like H&P or SOAP (Issues) are great for multi-problem visits. Setting these templates as default is recommended for users who need comprehensive documentation without paid credit consumption.
Actions That Count as paid credit
Certain actions will consume your paid credits on a free account. Examples include:
Generating notes using custom or community templates.
Using the "+" icon to create documents from Session Dictation.
Accessing advanced Paid features like the extended scribe feature or Ask Heidi prompts.
Practical Suggestions to Maximise Free Plan Benefits
Always use pre-made basic templates unless advanced customisation is essential.
Avoid creating documents via the "+" icon for Session Dictation, as this will count toward your paid credit limit.
Use transcription sessions and select a default template to finalise your notes whenever possible.
For detailed documentation, utilize the SOAP Note or H&P templates optimised for different use cases.
