Which Mac version should I download?

There are two versions for the Mac:

  1. dmg-aarch64

    • Architecture: ARM 64-bit architecture, also known as AArch64

    • Designed for: Macs with Apple Silicon processors, such as the M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2 and M3 chips

  2. dmg-x86_64

    • Architecture: Intel 64-bit architecture, commonly referred to as x86_64 or AMD64

    • Designed for: Macs with Intel processors

You can check which processor you have on your mac by clicking the Apple icon in the top left corner on your device and selecting ‘About this Mac’


What permissions do I need?

During the download and install process, we prompt to get the right permissions for the app to work. If you are finding that the app isn’t working due to permission errors, make sure that you have the right permission settings turned on:

  • For computers managed by IT departments, you might need administrative permissions to install or update the app.

  • Consult your IT department if you encounter permission issues during installation or updates.If your computer is managed by an IT department, ensure that necessary permissions or approvals are obtained before attempting installation. Sometimes, IT-managed devices may block software downloads or updates unless prior authorization is granted.

Mac

  • Click the Apple icon in the top left of and select ‘System Settings’

  • Click on the Privacy and Security Tab

  • Ensure that for Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording, the Heidi Desktop App has access

The screen recording permission serves to capture system audio, which is essential for Heidi to accurately transcribe sessions done during Zoom, or any other online calling service. It does not refer to recording your screen visually, this is just the terminology Macs use for this permission

Windows

  • Select Start > Settings > Privacy

  • Ensure that for Microphone and System Sound Recording, the Heidi Desktop App has access


How do I create an account?

To create an account, simply open the Heidi Desktop App and click on "Sign Up." Enter your email address and create a password, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete your registration.


How do I reset my password?

If you’ve forgotten your password, click the "Forgot Password?" link when prompted to enter your password. Enter your registered email address, and we'll send you a one-time code you can use to reset your password


Can I use the desktop app for Telehealth?

Yes! The Heidi Desktop App supports Telehealth consultations. You can scribe your sessions during Zoom calls or other online meeting platforms, as the app captures the system audio. This means you can go back to using headphones on your calls, without needing to play the audio out loud. For longer transcription sessions, the Desktop App reduces the chance of losing transcripts during interruptions, making it a more reliable choice. It also avoids browser-related interruptions, maintains a stable connection to the microphone and system audio, and supports the use of headsets for a seamless telehealth experience.


How do I connect my headphones?

If your headphones are plugged in or connected by bluetooth, you shouldn’t need to do anything extra for the app to connect. If you’re not seeing your headphones in the microphone dropdown, try opening and closing the app or cycling back and forth between sessions to prompt a refresh.


Does the desktop app work offline?

No, the desktop app requires an internet connection at all times. Make sure you are online while using the app, as it does not offer offline capabilities. We will be working on this functionality soon! Both the Desktop App and Web App require a stable internet connection for optimal performance, as an unstable connection can affect audio capture and transcription quality.

How do I sync my data across devices?

Heidi automatically syncs your data across all devices when you log in with the same account. Your notes, transcriptions, and settings will be accessible on both the desktop and mobile apps.


How do I update the desktop app?

To ensure you have the latest features, follow these steps to check your current version and update the Heidi Desktop App:

  1. Open the Heidi Desktop App: Launch the app on your computer.

  2. Navigate to Settings: Click on your profile icon or initials in the lower-left corner of the app, then select Settings.

  3. Go to the Account Section: Within the Settings menu, select Account.

  4. Locate the Version Number: Scroll to the bottom of the Account page. The app version number will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Note: If you do not see a version number, you might be using the web app in a browser instead of the desktop app. Ensure you have the desktop app installed for this feature. We will also prompt you during login when a new update is available so you don’t need to be constantly checking.

  • The Desktop App requires manual updates, whereas updates to the Web App occur automatically on the server side.- If no update option is visible within the app, visit the official Heidi Health website to download and install the latest version of the app.


What should I do if the app crashes or freezes?### Troubleshooting Session and Update Issues Sometimes users may face challenges such as failing to start a new session or encountering update errors. Here are some steps to troubleshoot these issues:

  1. Ensure you are using the latest app version: Outdated versions may lead to functionality issues.

  2. Restart the app: Closing and reopening the app can often resolve temporary glitches.

  3. Reinstall the app if needed:

    1. For Windows: Remove the Heidi Health application via Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program, and then download the most recent version from the official Heidi Health website.

    2. For Mac: Drag the Heidi Health app to the Trash, empty it, and then reinstall from the official site.

  4. Check permissions especially on organisational devices: If your device is managed by IT, you may need domain admin approvals or extra setup permissions. If issues persist, reach out to Heidi Health support for assistance.5. If the app does not open: You will not be able to check the version number through the app. In this case, proceed with reinstalling the app or contacting your IT department for assistance.

If the app crashes or freezes, try closing the application completely and restarting it. If the issue persists, reach out to our support team through the "Help" option within the app.For failed updates, reinstallation may be required to ensure that the app functions correctly. Follow the reinstallation steps outlined above for the best results.


How do I upgrade my subscription on the desktop app?

To upgrade your subscription, log in to your account via the web or desktop app, then navigate to the Account section in the side navigation. You should see a purple Upgrade button, and then follow the instructions on the screen.


Which devices are supported?

The Heidi Desktop App is compatible with most modern Windows and macOS computers. We recommend using the latest versions of your operating system for optimal performance. A dedicated Windows Desktop App is also available, offering the same stability and performance advantages as the macOS version.
