What is Heidi Evidence?
Heidi Evidence helps clinicians find and verify clinical answers quickly. Ask a clinical question and get a citation-backed answer grounded in trusted sources, including guidelines, medicine references, and primary research. Every key statement is paired with citations you can open to review the original material.
Evidence is available on all plans and can be accessed in two ways:
Evidence (outside sessions) is available from the Heidi sidebar and works independently of patient sessions. This is unlimited on all plans, including Free.
Evidence in Ask Heidi (during a consult) If you are in a region outside of the UK, or EU evidence is available within the Ask Heidi bar while you are in a session. On Free, this is limited to 10 uses per month. On paid Evidence plans (Evidence Plus, Clinician, Practice, Enterprise), it is unlimited.

What are actions?
Actions are the currency for Heidi's advanced features. On the Free plan, you receive 5 actions per month. Each of the following uses one action:
Generating a note using an custom template (including any standard template you have customised)
Using Ask Heidi to edit notes, generate outputs, or answer questions
Generating an output from a document template
Using form filling
Linking a patient or session
For the plans Clinician, Practice, and Enterprise actions are unlimited.
What can Ask Heidi be used for?
Ask Heidi is your AI assistant within Heidi. You can use it to edit notes, generate documents, create templates, ask clinical questions, and more. On the Free plan, Ask Heidi usage counts towards your monthly actions. On Clinician, Practice, and Enterprise, it is unlimited.
Some examples of how clinicians use Ask Heidi:
Edit or restructure a note after generation
Create a shorter handover summary
Draft a referral letter from session context
Ask about specific clinical terminology
If you are working from inside the EU or UK, then Evidence will not work alongside Ask Heidi, Evidence will only be available outside of sessions.

Why is Heidi free?
Heidi's mission is to advance the adoption of AI in healthcare. Making core functionality free reduces barriers and supports health equity, so that any clinician can benefit from AI documentation, not just those who can afford a subscription.
The Free plan gives you unlimited transcription, unlimited note generation with standard templates, and unlimited access to Heidi Evidence with citations. Paid plans add advanced features like unlimited Ask Heidi, premium evidence sources, Source Control, integrations, and team functionality.
Heidi does not sell user data. Your data and your patients' data remain yours.
What happens if I exceed my action limit on the Free plan?
You can still generate notes using standard templates and access Evidence queries. Only the advanced features (advanced templates, documents, Ask Heidi, form filling, and patient & session linking) will be paused until the following month.
If you run out of actions during a busy clinic day, you may be offered a one-time extension to continue using advanced features for up to 24 hours, giving you time to finish your work and consider upgrading when convenient.
