Log out your organisation's members remotely

Sign out members of your organisation across all their devices, without needing physical access to the device.

Overview

As an organisation admin, you can sign out any single member of your org - or your entire org - all at once, across every device they're logged in on. No need to track down the device or ask them to do it themselves. To do this, use the Log out from all devices button in your org settings.

When to use it

The most common reason to use this tool: a clinician finished a shift on a shared device and forgot to log out.

It's also worth using when:

  • You're offboarding a team member and need to end their Heidi access immediately.

  • You want to sign out your entire organisation - for example, during a security incident.

  • Your organisation uses SSO and needs to fully revoke Heidi access (see the SSO section below).

How to log out organisation members remotely

Sign out specific members

  1. Select the member or members you want to sign out.

  2. Click Log out from all devices.

  3. Confirm.

Sign out everyone in your organisation

  1. Click Select all.

  2. Click Log out from all devices.

  3. Confirm.

💡 As the organisation admin, you won't be signed out yourself - the action only applies to the members you've selected.

What happens to signed-out members

They won't see a logged-out screen straight away. The next time they try to use Heidi on any device - web, desktop, iOS, or Android - they'll be taken to the login page. There's no way to keep working once this is done.

Who can use organisation remote log out

Available to org admins in Heidi organisations. Not supported if your members sign in with Apple, or for SSO connections created before May 2026.

If the control isn't visible, check that you have org admin permissions in your organisation settings.

SSO organisations: using remote log out as an access kill switch

If your organisation connects via SSO, you can pair organisation remote log out with your SSO settings for a complete and immediate revocation of Heidi access.

To action this:

  1. Disconnect your SSO connection from your identity provider.

  2. Return to Settings > Organisation > Members and sign out all members.

This ensures no active sessions can continue after the SSO connection is disconnected.

Troubleshooting

The option isn't visible in my org settings.

You may not have organisation admin permissions, or your organisation may not be set up in Heidi yet. This is also not available for Apple or social-login accounts, or SSO connections created before May 2026.

A member is still active after I signed them out.

Their session has already been revoked. They just haven't seen the login screen yet - the next time they take any action in Heidi, they'll be redirected to sign in. They can't do anything new in the meantime.

I signed out someone by mistake.

They'll need to log back in. Nothing was deleted - they just need to re-authenticate.

I signed out all members but I'm still logged in - is that right?

Yes, that's intentional. The admin running the logout is always excluded from the action, so you keep access to complete the process and can never accidentally lock yourself out.

If you are concerned about unauthorised access, reach out to our Support team and we'll investigate.
