Memory and Defaults

Memory and Defaults allow you to provide personalised feedback to the AI on how you want your notes to be generated. You have full control over these settings, and you can update or delete them at any time.

What is Memory?

Memory is a feature within your settings that allows you to provide personalised feedback to the AI on how you want your notes to be generated. This includes specifying abbreviations or alternative spellings for words you use. You can also create pre-written snippets that can be used within your sessions.

What are Defaults?

Defaults allows you to add further personalisation such as language and spelling, default Scribe type and style, default note templates and dictation defaults. Along with Memory settings, these settings act as your customisation engine, enabling Heidi to tailor notes to your exact specifications and minimising the need for edits afterwards.

Where do I find Memory and Defaults?

You'll find these settings with your account:

  • Settings > Memory

  • Settings > Defaults

What are the different Memory settings?

Replace

Use this feature to customise your word library. You can add commonly misspelled words or preferred abbreviations, and Heidi will automatically correct or shorten these in your outputs.

Snippets

Snippets allows you to add shortcuts for frequently used text blocks so you can edit your outputs faster and more efficiently.

Within a session, simply type the magic character “/” followed by your snippet name and hit enter. The shortcut will instantly expand into your saved text block! Alternatively, if you are using the dictation feature, you can speak the snippet names out loud.

What are the different Default settings?

Language & spelling

This allows you to select your spelling preference. For example, whether you prefer English or American spelling. Select your preference, and your outputs will adapt accordingly. You can also decide how you would like to refer to yourself or patients.

Sessions defaults

Decide your scribe defaults such as the type of scribe (fast or best), a default note template, and the style of scribe (e.g. level of detail).

Dictate

Enable and set your dictation preferences such as input and output languages, sound effects and the method of dictation.

Post-session defaults

Here you’ll find a number of options for after your session. This includes, automatically creating tasks, opening the side panel to show tasks and codes after the initial session note is created, supplying a default email address for emailing notes, and enabling Heidi Verify (our auto-verify feature).

Appearance

Choose your default header and footer for exported PDFs.

Can I still make in-session edits?

Absolutely! If you notice a misspelled word or a phrase you'd prefer to abbreviate during your session, high-light the word/phrase and select Find & Replace.

You can then choose to apply the change to all instances within your current output, across all outputs in your session, or for all future occurrences by adding it to your word library. You also have the option to match the exact casing of your replacement if needed.
