A. Before you begin
Before you begin your integration setup, make sure to have the following details ready.
Clinic database name (for example
cardioclinic)Valid API key (this can be found within Plato under System Setup > API)
Doctor ID (the ID clinician uses to login to Plato)
To access the Plato integration, your Heidi account must have at least the Practice tier (or above). If you do not have these details, contact your Plato administrator or IT team before continuing.
B. Set up the Plato integration
1. In Heidi, open Settings, then select EMR integrations.
2. Search for Plato, then select Details.
3. Select Set up integration.
4. Enter your clinic's database name and Plato API key, then select Continue.
5. Enter the clinician's Doctor ID, then select Search.
6. Choose the result that matches the correct Doctor ID, then select Continue.
7. Enter the exact name of the Plato folder where Heidi should push completed notes.
8. When the confirmation page appears, the integration is active. You can also disconnect the integration from this page when needed.
C. How the integration works
Automatic session creation
When a patient is added to the Plato queue and assigned to a doctor, a session automatically appears in that doctor's Heidi account. The session uses the patient's name, gender, and age as identifiers.
Push a note to Plato
After completing a note in Heidi:
Select Push to Plato, located next to Copy.
Heidi sends the note to the Plato folder selected during setup.
Check Plato to confirm that the note appears in the correct patient record and folder.
Important limitation after pushing a note
The clinician cannot edit or delete the note in Plato after it has been pushed. The note is posted by the API, so only a Plato administrator (with permission to manage other users' notes) can edit or delete it.
Review the note carefully in Heidi before selecting Push to Plato.
Setup complete
The clinician can now receive automatically created sessions from the Plato queue and push completed notes back to the configured Plato folder.
