Before You Start
You must be part of an eCW practice or organization team that has set up Vim. See here for details.
You will need your organization key, which is provided by your organization administrator.
If you are a solo practitioners, you can access the Vim integration installation here.
5 minutes to complete the installation on a desktop computer.
This guide covers Vim Connect installation for:
1. Windows Installation
Step-by-step instructions for installing Vim Connect on a Windows device using the MSI installer.
Step 1a: Download Vim Connect
Close eClinicalWorks if it's open
Click the download link: https://vim.health/desktop_ecw
Download the Vim Connect installer file (MSI)
Step 1b: Install
Open the downloaded file and select Run
Enter your organization key when prompted.
π‘Your Organization Key is a unique code that links the install to your practice. It is provided to you by your provided to you by your Organization Admin β copy and paste carefully to avoid errors.
Wait for installation to complete (closes automatically)
Step 1c: Launch & Verify
Open Windows Start Menu, search for "Vim" and launch Vim Connect
Look for the blue Vim heart icon in your system tray (bottom-right corner)
Important: close all chrome browsers and restart Chrome again
Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) and pin Vim Connect
Step 1d: You're Ready
Log into eClinicalWorks as normal
The Vim heart icon will appear in your EHR - you're all set!

2. Mac Installation
Step-by-step instructions for installing Vim Connect on a Mac using the Chrome browser extension.
Step 2a: Download Extension
Close eClinicalWorks if it's open
Open Chrome and go to vim.health/web
Click "Add to Chrome" in the Chrome Web Store
Click Add Extension
Step 2b: Enter Organization Key
Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) and pin Vim Connect for easier access to the extension.
Click the Vim heart icon in your Chrome toolbar. Youβll see a field to enter your Organization ID - click the pencil icon to edit.
Paste your organization key and click the checkmark

Step 2c: Refresh your browser
Important: close all chrome browsers and restart Chrome again
Log into eClinicalWorks as normal β you may be asked to complete a one-time only VIm login.
The Vim heart icon will appear in your EHR in the top right corner - you're all set!

3. Microsoft Edge Installation
Step 3a: Download Extension
Open Microsoft Edge and go to vim.health/web
Click "Get" in the Chrome Web Store
Confirm installation
Step 3b: Enter Organization Key
Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) and pin Vim Connect
Click the Vim heart icon in your Edge toolbar
Click the pencil icon to open settings
Paste your organization key and click the checkmark
Step 3c: You're Ready
Close and restart Edge
Log into eClinicalWorks as normal
The Vim heart icon will appear in your EHR - you're all set!
