How do I send the consult notes to my practice software?

For users who are not integrated with an EHR:

To send the consult notes to your practice software you will need to copy the note and paste it into your practice software. The Heidi team are working hard on building integrations to various softwares. In the future we hope that Heidi will allow you to directly send notes to your existing practice software. In the meantime, you’ll have to copy and paste the notes.

Common Issues When Copying Notes

  1. Clipboard Restrictions: Some platforms, like Accuro, may block clipboard content copied via Heidi’s in-app Copy buttons, especially when running in virtualized environments (e.g., Citrix or cloud servers). This can result in nothing appearing when you paste into the target application.

  2. Formatting Challenges: When pasting notes into certain applications, such as Best Practice, Markdown markers (e.g., ** for bold or # for headings) may appear, affecting the readability of the text.

There are 3 ways to copy notes from Heidi:

The 1st and fastest option to copy notes is:

  • Once you have generated your notes

  • Click copy on the top right corner of the text field if you’re on the desktop or iPad version.

Note: The copy button is not available through a mobile browser.

The 2nd option to copy notes is:

  • Clicking the three dots in the session window

  • Click on copy all text

The 3rd option to copy notes is through a traditional copy and paste method.

  • Select all the text

  • Right click and select copy

All three options will copy the text to the clipboard of your device. You can then go to the patient's record in your practice management system to paste the notes.

Additional Workarounds for Copying Notes

  • Use a Plain Text Editor: Copy the note from Heidi Health, paste it into a plain text editor (e.g., Notepad), then copy the text again from the editor and paste it into the target application. This method avoids clipboard restrictions and removes any unwanted formatting.

  • Use the Plain Text Option in Heidi: In Heidi Health, use the "Plain Text" option from the Copy menu. Paste the plain text version into the target application. This removes Markdown symbols but also strips any bold or heading styling. Note: If the pasted text doesn’t appear, try clicking "Copy" again in Heidi and repeat the paste action. Alternatively, manually highlight specific text in the note and use Ctrl + C (Windows) or Command + C (Mac) to copy just that selection.

An alternative to copying your notes is by emailing yourself the notes, You can do this by following the steps above. Best Practices:

  • Always verify the pasted content for accuracy and formatting.

  • Use plain text editors to clean up formatting when transferring notes between platforms.

  • Familiarize yourself with the clipboard behavior of your target application to avoid unexpected issues.

For users looking for integration, check in if your EHR is available.
