Veradigm and Heidi integration

Sync clinical notes from Heidi directly into Veradigm encounters

Updated this week

❗ Important: Your clinic needs to be activated by Veradigm before you can connect inside Heidi. If you haven’t completed activation yet, contact the Heidi team and we’ll guide you through it (typical lead time is up to 7 business days).

Overview

Before you begin

To set up the Veradigm integration, you’ll need:

  • You’ll need to be on a Heidi Practice or Enterprise plan to access the integration – you can review plans and pricing here.

  • Your clinic will need an active Veradigm EHR licence.

  • We’ll submit a clinic activation request to Veradigm on your behalf — this typically takes up to 7 business days.

  • A clinic contact who can help with set-up (preferably IT)

How To Setup

Request clinic activation (one-time per clinic) - preferably via IT Admin

To submit the activation request to Veradigm, the Heidi team will collect:

  • Clinic/organisation name

  • Clinic contact details (preferably IT): name, phone, email

  • Veradigm (or Altera) account number / CDH # (available in your Central account)

  • Veradigm or Altera product to activate (separate requests may be required per product)

  • Unity licence key (if available)

  • Base URL

  • SQL script (only if required for installation when the application is launched from a Veradigm/Altera product)

Once Veradigm completes the activation, the Heidi team receives connection details including your clinic’s Ubiquity ID.

2) Navigate to the Veradigm integration in Heidi

Each individual user in a clinic / team needs to:

  1. Open Heidi

  2. Open the side panel > Settings > EMR integrations

  3. Choose Veradigm and select Setup integration (top-right of the screen)

💡 If you can only see the 'Contact Sales' button on the integration page, make sure you have contacted the Heidi team to activate your clinic first.

3) Enter the details and connect

Obtain the required information - you can find this by reaching out to your IT Manager or the Heidi team. If you face any issues please reach out to us.

You’ll be prompted for:

  • User Id: Veradigm username

  • Password: for your Veradigm EHR

  • Ubiquity ID: [Veradigm issued: your IT admin / practice manager will provide]

After you’ve entered the appropriate details, press Continue, if you see the following screen, your integration is ready to be used.

How To Use

Pulling in appointments to Heidi

1. Create an appointment for your patient in Veradigm.

2. Ensure the appointment is associated with an encounter, either by linking it to an existing encounter or by creating a new encounter. Note that you do not have to have the patient checked in.

3. Navigate back to Heidi

4. Click on the refresh icon to sync and bring in the appointments, alternatively use the calendar icon to pick the date if your appointment is scheduled in the past or in the future

Please note you can only write back to Veradigm once an encounter is created and pulled in through the Schedule tab. You cannot create a new session in Heidi and push notes back into Veradigm as it would not be linked to a patient.

Pushing notes back to Veradigm

1. Open the session pulled in from Veradigm

2. Conduct your session as normal and generate your note

3. You can map Heidi’s note headings into the relevant parts of Veradigm: Reason for Visit (HPI), Review of Systems, History, Vitals, Physical Exam, and Assessment & Plan. You can edit the note text in Heidi before sending.

4. Once you’re done editing your note, press the Push to Veradigm button on the top right corner of your note area

5. Re-open the appointment in Veradigm to see each section populated in the corresponding free-text fields.

6. If you make changes to your note and push again, Heidi will only update the sections of the note updated.
